Writing in a Different Setting

By Annette Cole Mastron, Communications Director for Southern Writers Magazine

Do you think your writing could benefit if you could take time away from your life? Yeah, sure, even if I could escape my job and family obligations. Who has the money for a writing sabbatical?

Take a breath. If money were no object, would you take the chance to write your novel or finish your work in progress? Maybe write at a countryside cottage on a farm in Suffolk, England? Would you do it?

Are you willing to do the work for the opportunity to have a writing sabbatical? Here's your chance. Me Before You, Author, Jojo Moyes is offering just such an opportunity for the right writer. Moyes is a favorite author of mine and my daughter. Moyes announced the offer September 18th on her Twitter profile

Here's how it can happen for you. Her requirements are; you to be an aspiring writer or have already had a book published. Prove you really want, and need, time in a peaceful setting to write via submitting no more than 500 word essay to her email to writercottage1@gmail.com

DEADLINE is September 30, 2016. Yes, today is September 29th. So what. You're a writer, deadlines are part of your job as an author or would-be author. You can do this.

Opportunities to succeed are lost in the blink of an eye, but regret can last a lifetime. This is a huge opportunity from a generous author. Even if you don't win a week in this charming English cottage, you will win by just competing and knowing you can write under a deadline.

Don't overthink this opportunity, just do it.
